For 20 years, the good-natured but somewhat cranky wizard Hodge wanted a young hard-hearted prince to mature into a better person in the seclusion of a magical castle. But Hodge forgot the young man and remembered him only 500 years later. Meanwhile, due to the loneliness and eternal silence in the castle, the beastly prince has become an actual beast. Hodge, who cannot forgive himself for his mistake, tries with all his might to help the beast. The beast wants something beautiful that lives but can also die and that responds when it speaks. In other words: another human being who keeps him company, but who also has to put up with his whims. A difficult task - but quite soon Hodge reflects on the daughter Jane of his acquaintance Mr. Clement, who is also called The Beauty... The puppet performances is a rare find from the early days of the Augsburg Puppenklste, recorded by the RAI in Bolzano/South Tyrol. Even if the quality of the recording seems to be from another age of picture recording, the hearts of lovers of the Augsburger Puppenkiste will beat faster!
